Casper Christ Bachmeier, the son of Mike and Katherine  (Schiele) Bachmeier was born in the rural Orrin,   North Dakota home of his parents  on March 10, 1938.  He died at the age of  74 years on Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North    Dakota. 
                      Casper was raised in the home of his  parents in rural Orrin and received his elementary education in a nearby  country school.  Following school, he  worked on the family farm and assisted the county surveyor until old enough to  join the rail gang with the Burlington Northern Railroad.  He worked the rail lines for a few years  before being laid off during a slow period.   At this time, Casper  was inducted into the U.S. Army in January of 1962.  While in the Army, Casper received his GED Certification and  served as an artillery surveyor.  He was  honorably discharged on December 6, 1963 and continued in the Army Reserve  until January of 1968.  On May 6, 1968, Casper was united in marriage to Theresa Selensky at  Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby,   North Dakota.  Following their marriage, the couple made  their home in Rugby.  Casper  rejoined the Burlington Northern Railroad following his discharge from service  and remained with them until retiring in February of 1999, a total of 43 years with  the railroad.   
                       
                      Casper was a member of Little Flower  Catholic Church in Rugby and a former member  of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed  carpentry, woodworking, fishing, playing bingo and cards and was an avid  Minnesota Twins fan.
                       
                       
                      He is survived by his wife, Theresa; one daughter, Patty and  her husband, Steve Denn of Tioga; a grandson, Mike Denn and his wife, Stephanie  of Minot; sisters, Christine Hagen and Rose (Bob) Monroe, all of Conrad, MT and  Marge DeVoogdt of Devils Lake; brothers, Pete and Leo of Cut Bank, MT and Louie  (Hanna) of Brady, MT; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by one son in  infancy, John; two sisters, Anna Adam and Katherine Gilderhus; one brother,  John; and his parents.
                       
                      
                      Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25th at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby.  The burial with military honors accorded by  the Clarence Larson American Legion Post # 23 – Honor and Color Guard of Rugby  and the Military Funeral Honors Detail of North Dakota will be in the church  cemetery.   Fr.                       Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 10:30  a.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.  There will be no reviewal in the church. 
                    Rosary & Vigil Prayers will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.  |
