Christian “Christ” Burgard,  the son of Bernard and Theresa (Volk) Burgard was born on April 3, 1935 in  rural Orrin, North Dakota.  He died at  the age of 82 years on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Trinity Medical Center in  Minot, North Dakota. 
                      
                      Christ was born and  raised in rural Orrin and received his education at the Orrin School.  After his schooling, Christ worked on the  family farm and for several of the area farmers.  On March 9, 1955, he was united in marriage  to Cecilia Wolf at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Fulda.  The couple purchased a farm southeast of  Towner where they raised their family, farmed and had a small cattle herd.  Christ also drove school bus for ten  years.  He was a member of St. Cecilia’s  Catholic Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He had great respect for the land and loved  being home on the farm with family and friends.  
                      
                      Christ is survived  by his wife of 62 years, Cecilia of Towner; children, Clyde (June) Burgard of  Towner, Connie Frederick of Cooperstown, Christy (Robert) Baker of Estancia,  New Mexico and Cathy (Leon) Nelson of Towner; 9 grandchildren; 16 great  grandchildren; brothers, Benny (Darlene) Burgard of Bismarck, Johnny (Mary)  Burgard of Page and Matt (Evie) Burgard of Jamestown; a sister, Nettie  Schneider of Jamestown; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by sisters, Marion  Stach, Angie Mitzel and Theresa Martwick; and his parents. 
                       
                      Mass  of Christian burial will be held at 10:30  a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner with  burial in the church cemetery.  Father  Michael Schommer, Celebrant. 
                       
                      Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral  Home in Towner and will continue Saturday for one hour prior to the time of  services at the church. 
                      
                    Rosary and vigil prayer services will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  |
