Edna Mae (Rosencrans) Buer, the  daughter of Alfred “Bud” and Nora (Thomas) Rosencrans was born on September 14,  1934 in Rugby, North Dakota.  She died at  the age of 80 years on Saturday, January 31, 2015 of natural causes at the  Heart of America Care Center in Rugby,   North Dakota. 
                      
                      Edna was raised in the rural home of  her parents in Denbigh, North Dakota and completed her education in  rural country schools.  On January 31,  1968 she was united in marriage to Jennings Buer.  They had two sons, Darin and Daniel.  The family lived on a small farm until they  moved to Towner to care for Edna’s mother.   The family later moved back to the farm until Jennings illness made them move back to  Towner.  Jennings died on December 4, 1993.  Edna continued to live in Towner until she  moved into the Haaland Estates in Rugby.  She enjoyed visiting with her sisters,  friends and spending time with tending the miniature horses.  She made great raised doughnuts and baked  beans and cooked many great meals for her boys.     She had a unique way of  expressing herself with words like “sugar foot” or “bombocity”, which will be  long remembered.  Edna always opened her  home to those who needed it, whether it be a stray animal or somebody who just  needed a place to stay for awhile. 
                      
                      Edna is survived by her sons, Darin  Sievert Buer and his fiancé Lori Hale and their son, Jarred Jennings Buer of  Towner; Daniel Cole Buer and his wife Charity (Block) of Lansing, KS; Dan’s  daughter, Kayla Schwalbe of Knox, Dan and Charity’s children, Ava and Lincoln  Buer of Lansing, KS; sisters, Erma (Alvin) Berndt and Jean (Lyle) Carpenter,  all of Towner; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband;  brothers, Fred, Russell, Alfred K., and Tom Rosencrans; sisters, Alice  Rosencrans and Lois Carpenter; and her parents. 
                      
                      
                      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8th, 2015 at the  Zion Lutheran  Church, Towner with spring burial in  the Southwest Baptist Cemetery,  Berwick.  Pastor   Linda Wimmer and Mr. Wally Fretland, officiating. 
                      
                    Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner  and visitation will continue on Sunday for one hour prior to the time of  services at the church.  |
