Emanuel “Bill” Miller died at the  age of 95 years on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Heart of America Care  Center in Rugby, North Dakota.  He was  born in the home of his parents, Andrew and Lagetta (Niegel) Miller in  Karlsruhe, North Dakota on June 29, 1923. 
                        
                      Bill was reared in the rural Towner  home of his parents and received his education in the Copperdahl Hill country  school near his home.  Following his  schooling, Bill worked on the family farm and for area farmers and  ranchers.  He made his home on the Miller  family farm and ranch with his parents and later with his brother and his wife,  Peter and Marion on the same homestead.  In  addition to the farm work, Peter taught him the skills of carpentry and he and  Peter did carpentry work in the area.  In  his younger years he enjoyed playing pool and pool tournaments, winning a few trophies  along the way.  He also enjoyed hunting,  fishing, playing dice and card games and never missed a 4th of July  parade and rodeo.  He was a long-time and  faithful member of St. Cecilia’s. 
                        
                      Bill is survived by his sister,  Catherine DiMeo of Olympia, Washington; sister-in-law, Marion Miller of Minot;  numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his brothers,  Peter, Anton and Alfan Miller; sisters, Angie Kuhnhenn, Monica Hooker, Agnes  Klemish, Elizabeth Hanretty, Mary Johnson and Sister Anella Miller and his  parents.   
                          
                      Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00  a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner with burial  in the church cemetery.  Father Michael  Schommer, Celebrant. 
                        
                    Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a rosary  and prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Visitation will continue Saturday at the  church for one hour prior to the time of services.  |
