Peter Miller, the son  of Andrew and Lagetta (Niegel) Miller was born in the home of his parents in  Karlsruhe, North Dakota on October 3, 1925.   He died at the age of 92 years on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in his  rural Towner, North Dakota home in the care of his family and hospice.                       
                      Peter was reared in  the farm home of his parents and received his education in the rural Copperdahl  Hill school near his home.   Following  his schooling, he worked on the family farm and for area farmers and  ranchers.  In April of 1945, he was  drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in November of  1945.  One day later, he enlisted in the  U.S. Army, serving until he was again honorably discharged in November of  1946.  Following his discharge, he  returned to the Towner area and started working construction on the Garrison  Dam and later the missile silos.  Peter  completed his education at the Automotive Technical School in Bismarck, completing  courses in auto mechanics and welding.   He then worked in those capacities for Hayburster Manufacturing in  Minot.  On May 15, 1952, he was united in  marriage to Marion Kriedeman at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Towner.  The couple made their home on the Miller  family farm and ranch, south of Towner where he remained until his death.  Here, they raised their family, farmed,  ranched and did carpentry work on the side.   In 2010, Peter tried to retire, but always seemed to revert to some type  of work.  He was a member if St.  Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, woodworking,  gardening, board games and being with his family.                       
                      Survivors are his  wife of 65 years, Marion; Richard (Josie) and Daniel (Jeri), all of Towner;  Raymond (Deanna) of Sawyer, Rodney of Gillette, Wyoming, Clara Johnson, Donna  (Dennis) Anderson, Donald (Penny), Sharon (Robert) Amstutz and Dennis, all of  Minot, 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 2 -great-great-grandchildren; one  sister, Catherine Dimeo of Olympia, WA; one brother, Bill of Rugby; many  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel; a granddaughter, Marty;  daughter-in-law, Kathy, Mrs. Rodney Miller; son-in-law, Sherman Johnson; 2  brothers, Anton & Alfan Miller; sisters, Angie Kuhnhenn, Monica Hooker,  Agnes Klemisch, Elizabeth Hanretty; Mary Johnson and Sister Anella Miller; and  his parents, Andrew & Lagetta. 
                      Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Friday, December 1 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner with burial in  the church cemetery.  Fr. Michael  Schommer, Celebrant                     
                    Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to  7:00 p.m.  Thursday with a rosary and  vigil service beginning at 7.p, m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of  services on Friday, all in the church.  |
